In Cupra Marittima, traces of a pre-Roman era emerge: remnants of walls and stairways that seem intent on concealing the presence of the Temple dedicated to Dea Cupra, a deity associated with the earth and water. Not even the goddess’s iconography has survived, although she was once worshipped by the local populations.
